Abilene Public Library

The Abilene Public Library’s South Branch is scheduled to reopen on Nov. 19. Previously on South Fourteenth Street and Danville Drive, the South Branch has been closed since the end of September while library staff transitions to the new location inside the Mall of Abilene.

A lot of people enjoyed coloring as a kid but just like other fun activities in childhood, the habit wore off. Now it’s making a comeback for adults. You can find a large variety of adult coloring books in craft stores and major booksellers.  Adult coloring books are either intricate or simple. Ann Mount has both types.

“The detailed pages may take me like weeks to finish but one of the simpler ones will take me maybe an afternoon,” Mount said.  “It’s just whatever I’m in the mood for.”

People rejoiced after the Abilene City Council voted unanimously Thursday to move the south branch of the Abilene Public Library to the Mall of Abilene.

Size constraints and plumbing problems have been an issue at the current location, 1401 South Danville. City Librarian Lori Grumet said the new space will be four times the size of the current building.
