“Read me a story?”

We’ve all heard those plaintive words from a sleepy little one, clutching a well-worn book that’s been read so many times every word is familiar. After suffering a NE Abilene lighting strike and the resulting EMP ( electro-magnetic pulse) that damaged KACU's digital STL (station transmitter link) this past Sunday night, KACU returned to the braodcast airwaves about 12:30 PM Tuesday afternoon.  KACU was able to replace the STL with a loaner unit from the manufacturer by overnight shipping.  During the time the station has had this broadcast outage, it has continued to provide all of its broadcast content through the internet stream on www.kacu.org.

KACU brings listeners the new NPR show TED Radio Hour, beginning May 9,2012. Hosted by journalist Alison Stewart, TED Radio Hour presents big ideas about modern life from some of today’s most fascinating thinkers. The weekly, 10-episode season airs Wednesday afternoon at 1PM. on 89.7, KACU.

March is National Social Work Month and as a way to celebrate the may contributions social workers make in our community, this special series gives them a voice to talk about what they do each and every day. This is the second season of our award winning series. This season, host Dave Smith speaks with both area professionals and students studying at ACU and HSU in the field of social work. Our presentation tackles the subject of social work from the perspective of the individual as well as looking closer at the area of social work they are involved in.
