Dancing with the Abilene Stars Chairwoman Shea Hall said 75 cents of every dollar raised from the event goes to the Hendrick Home for Children.

Anyone roaming downtown Abilene Thursday might end up surrounded by children dressed as characters from the film, “Frozen.” The popular Disney movie will be the theme for this month’s ArtWalk. Temperatures in Abilene have been a perfect fit lately but that is just a happy accident. Bird Thomas, Curator of Fun Learning Experiences at the Center for Contemporary Arts, said she planned this month’s theme way back in May.

Abilene Christian University Chief of Police Jimmy Ellison informed the campus through email to expect hearing sounds of gunfire or small explosions during a drill Wednesday inside the vacant Chambers Hall on campus. ACUPD and 17 Abilene Police Department SWAT members practiced reaction for events including active shooter response, hostage negotiation and collaboration with multiple agencies of police.

After suffering a NE Abilene lighting strike and the resulting EMP ( electro-magnetic pulse) that damaged KACU's digital STL (station transmitter link) this past Sunday night, KACU returned to the braodcast airwaves about 12:30 PM Tuesday afternoon.  KACU was able to replace the STL with a loaner unit from the manufacturer by overnight shipping.  During the time the station has had this broadcast outage, it has continued to provide all of its broadcast content through the internet stream on www.kacu.org.
