KACU-FM's fall pledge drive begins Monday, October 1 and finishes on Friday afternoon, October 5. This intensive one-week drive will provide operating funds for Abilene's only public radio station. The station has two drives each year, fall and spring, that provide operational funding for national and international programs such as Morning Edition and All Things Considered, Performance Today, the BBC World Service as well as many other programs.
Additionally, funds provide employment for professional staff and student announcer staff. The station is part of the Journalism and Mass Communication Department at Abilene Christian University. KACU has been supported by member donations from its beginning in 1986. This fall, the station is providing "thank you coffee mugs" sponsored by the ACU College of Arts and Sciences and native Texas tree seedlings ready for planting for windbreaks or other uses.
Finally, as an incentive for all the supporters of KACU pledging this fall, we are putting your name in a drawing for a new iPad 3 provided by Pura Vida Salon and Spa. Everyone is eligible except KACU and ACU employees and their families (see rules below). Please renew your membership or become a new member during this fall pledge drive.
Pledge Drive Contest Rules Eligibility All contest entries made to KACU in response to the October 2012 membership drive, whether by mail, website or telephone, are included in the drawings. The drawings are open to legal residents of the 50 states of the U.S., the District of Columbia, and Canada. Entrants must be 18 years of age or older. All KACU sustaining members are also automatically included. This contest is sponsored by KACU, ACU Box 27820, Abilene, TX 79699. KACU and ACU employees, board members and advisory committee members of KACU, its affiliates, advertising and production agencies related to this contest, and their respective household members are not eligible. KACU volunteers may enter if they are not included in the above-named categories. All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply. Void wherever prohibited or restricted by law. How to Enter No purchase or contribution is necessary. You may enter this contest in one of three ways: online at kacu.org, by telephone at 1-325-674-2441 or by mail by sending in a 3” x 5” index card to KACU, ACU Box 27820, Abilene, TX 79699. Entry must include your full name, complete mailing address, phone number with area code, and an e-mail address. No other method of entry will be accepted. Mail-in entries must be postmarked no later than two days prior to the prize drawing. Contest begins October 1. All drawings will be held October 8, 2012. Limit one entry per household. Incomplete entries are void. Selection of Winner(s) Winner(s) will be selected in a random drawing from among all eligible entries received by the deadline dates above. Prize drawing will be conducted by KACU. Drawing will be conducted within one hour of end of contest. Winner(s) will be announced on-air before the end of the day of the drawing. Winner(s) need not be present to win. Winner(s) will be notified by telephone and/ore-mail within 24 hours of drawing. Every reasonable attempt will be made to award prize. If after every reasonable effort has been exerted (three (3) attempts over 60 days) to award the prize but the potential winner(s) cannot be reached after 60 days from first notification attempt, or the potential winner(s) has refused to accept the prize, or if entrant is found to be ineligible, or prize notification is returned as undeliverable, the prize will be forfeited and an alternate winner awarded. Odds of Winning Odds of winning depend upon the number of eligible entries received. Entry constitutes permission (except where prohibited by law) to use winners' names, hometowns and likenesses for publicity purposes without additional compensation. Winners will be notified by telephone and/or e-mail. Limit of Entry Limit one entry per person for the entire entry period. Multiple entries, if discovered, will be disqualified. By entering, entrants acknowledge compliance with these official rules including all eligibility requirements. KACU is not responsible for failures in technology such as but not limited to: technical malfunctions, lost/delayed data transmission, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, line failures of any telephone network, computer equipment, software, inability to access any website or online service, or any other error or malfunction, or late, lost, incorrect or inaccurate transcription of entry information, or for any human error, or misdirected entries. Entry materials that have been tampered with or altered are void. Proof of emailing and/or mailing does not constitute proof of delivery. Prizes One (1) drawing will be held. All prizes are non-transferable. Prize value varies based on prize. Prizes are not redeemable for cash or transferable. All taxes on the prizes, including but not limited to federal, state and local income and sales taxes, and any expense not covered herein (including but not limited to expenses related to the use of the prize) are the responsibility of the winners.
