Scott Pham

Scott Pham got his start in radio at KBOO Portland community radio as a volunteer news producer and anchor.  Since then he's spent time interning at NPR in Washington, DC and making radio in the San Francisco Bay Area for Pacifica Radio.  His news and documentary work has aired on WAMU in DC, KQED in San Francisco and on Pacifica radio nationwide.

As KBIA's content director, Scott's goal is to make the station's considerable news and arts content easily available, easily shared and smartly delivered.

  • It's not just Twinkie hoarders and Ding Dong lovers that feel the pain of the Hostess factory closings. For the first time in about 40 years, Booches Billiard Hall in Columbia, Mo. has to go elsewhere to source the buns for its famous burgers. Regulars say they are adapting to the change.
  • Fans complain as McDonald's delays this year's pork-a-licious McRib sandwich to boost an anticipated slump in winter sales. The sandwich is a food engineering marvel of pork trimmings pressed into a boneless rib shape, topped with pickles and barbecue sauce, sandwiched on a bun.
  • When it's hot and humid, you probably don't want to move much and aren't very hungry. The same goes for cows; but when they don't eat, farmers lose money. Using weather data, a new app called Thermal Aid detects the threat of heat stress and offers farmers tips to keep their cows healthy.
